NOTES FROM: NWTC PILOT PLANNING MEETING NO. 1

The initial NWTC Pilot Meeting occured May 15th, 2008 at the AIDS For Life Alliance building in Seattle, Washington. Interested and dedicated trans activists and allies attended the first meeting, and we had a good, spirited and informative discussion about what this conference could and should become.

The potential in experience, creativity and resources available from just this small initial group from the Seattle area is stunning. Now imagine what our conference will potentially represent when we bring like-minded and talented activists and allies together from the entire Pacific Northwest! Indeed, if a total can be greater than the sum of its parts, what amazing alchemy will result from such a gathering? Incredible!

We are on to something very powerful and important with the Northwest Transgender Conference. There has never been anything like it in our region. This conference has the ability to bring us together to create a powerful network, gather and disseminate a wealth of information, produce and distribute guidelines and recommendations, and implement proven programs to benefit trans people throughout the entire Northwest.

There were some very important questions considered at the initial pilot meeting. WHAT is it, really? WHERE is it going to be? WHEN is it going to occur?

We didn't completely answer any of these questions at the first meeting. The conference is just beginning to crystalize. We need YOU to join in with us early on to help formulate exactly what, when and where the Northwest Transgender Conference is going to be.

Other pilot planning meetings will be announced soon. Please join with us to make this very important conference a reality. We need your effort, experience, energy, enthusiasm for this grand idea to come to fruition.
